Terms of service

1. About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Blessing Emejulu, who runs KnowYour CGPA (“we”, “us”). They cover the website, the installable app and all features, including the calculators, the dashboard and the AI academic advisor (together, the “service”). Our privacy policy, cookie policy and refund policy form part of these terms.

2. Who can use it

You must be at least 16 years old. If you’re under 18, you need your parent or guardian’s permission. You must give accurate details when you sign up and keep your password safe. You’re responsible for what happens under your account; tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.

3. What the service is, and isn’t

• KnowYour CGPA is a tool to help you calculate and track your results. It works from the courses, units and grades you enter (or that we’ve preloaded for some programmes).
• It is not an official record. Your university or polytechnic’s published results and transcript always take priority. Schools apply their own rules (for example on carry-overs or rounding), so our figures may differ from theirs.
• KnowYour CGPA is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for COOU or any other institution. Course lists we provide are a convenience; check them against your official course registration.

4. Free and Premium plans

• The free plan lets you save a limited number of semesters. We may change free-plan limits with notice in the app.
• Premium is a one-time payment (currently ₦1,000) that unlocks unlimited semester tracking, both calculators without limits and the AI academic advisor for the life of the service on your account. It is not a subscription.
• Prices are in Naira and shown before you pay. Payments are processed by Korapay by bank transfer.
• Premium is personal to your account and can’t be transferred or resold.
• Refunds are covered by our refund policy.

5. The AI academic advisor

• The advisor uses artificial intelligence to explain your results, suggest study plans and suggest opportunities. All CGPA figures, required GPAs and eligibility checks are calculated by our own code; the AI only explains them.
• AI suggestions are general guidance, not professional academic, career or financial advice. Opportunities are suggested from public information; their rules, deadlines and availability can change and we don’t run them. Always confirm on the official page before applying. We’re not responsible for decisions made by any opportunity provider.
• Usage limits apply (for example, a number of plans and searches each month) to keep the service fair and affordable. We may change them, or pause the advisor, at any time.

6. Advertising

• The service shows ads served by Google AdSense, which help keep the free plan free. How ads use cookies, and your choices, are explained in our privacy policy and cookie policy.
• Ads are provided by third parties. We don’t endorse the products or services advertised, and any dealings you have with an advertiser are between you and them.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• break any law, or use the service to mislead others about your results (for example, presenting our figures as an official transcript);
• try to access other people’s accounts or data, or parts of the service you’re not allowed to;
• disrupt the service, probe it for weaknesses, overload it, or get around usage limits or payments;
• scrape or copy the service, its course data or its design for another product without our written permission;
• click ads, or use bots or any other means to create ad views or clicks, other than out of genuine interest;
• upload anything harmful, offensive or that infringes someone else’s rights.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

8. Your content

The results and details you enter stay yours. You give us permission to store and process them only to provide the service to you, as our privacy policy describes.

9. Our content

The KnowYour CGPA name, logo, design and software belong to us. You may use the service for your own studies; you may not copy or redistribute it.

10. Availability and changes

We work to keep the service running, but it’s provided “as is” and may sometimes be unavailable, for example during maintenance. We may add, change or remove features. If we ever shut the service down, we’ll give at least 30 days’ notice so you can save your results.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we’re not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions you make based on figures or suggestions in the service, including errors caused by incorrect course data or grades. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Nigerian consumer protection law that can’t be excluded.

12. Ending your account

You can stop using the service at any time and delete your account yourself from Account in the app, or ask us through the contact page. We may suspend or end accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these terms; where reasonable, we’ll warn you first.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We’ll change the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you in the app or by email before they apply, and we may ask you to agree to them again before you carry on. If you keep using the service after that, you accept the new terms.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If you have a complaint, please contact us first; we’ll try to resolve it within 30 days. Any dispute we can’t resolve will be handled by the courts of Nigeria.
